1. Who we are

MICYA AI LLP is the data controller responsible for your personal data. We provide AI-powered products for education, self-development and assessment, including the MICYA Voice speech-analysis engine built on the open-source OpenSMILE toolkit.

  • Legal entity: MICYA AI LLP
  • Contact email: betty@micyaai.com
  • Registered address: [Add registered LLP address before launch]

2. Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Account data: name, email address, password (hashed), and profile preferences.
  • Content data: learning goals, journal entries, responses, assessment answers and other content you create.
  • Voice data: audio you choose to record for speech-based features (see Section 3).
  • Communications: messages you send us via forms, email or support.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage data: pages viewed, features used, session duration and interactions.
  • Device & log data: IP address, browser type, operating system, and approximate location derived from IP.
  • Cookies & similar technologies: as described in our Cookie Policy.

3. Voice & speech data

Some features analyze your speech. When you use them, audio is captured in your browser and processed to extract acoustic and prosodic features using the OpenSMILE toolkit (for example pitch, energy, fluency, pauses, and voice-quality descriptors).

  • We use these extracted features to provide feedback such as fluency, clarity, pace and confidence estimates.
  • By default we do not retain raw audio recordings beyond what is necessary to deliver the requested feature; we prioritize storing derived, non-reconstructive features.
  • You can decline microphone access at any time; speech features will simply be unavailable.
  • We do not use your voice data to identify you biometrically for any purpose other than delivering the feature you requested, and we do not sell voice data.

4. How we use information

  • To provide, operate, personalize and improve the Services.
  • To deliver speech analysis, tutoring, coaching and assessment features.
  • To process subscriptions, billing and trials.
  • To communicate with you about your account, updates and support.
  • To maintain security, prevent fraud and abuse, and comply with law.
  • To analyze aggregated, de-identified usage to improve our models and products.

5. Legal bases for processing

Where applicable law (such as the EU/UK GDPR or India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023) requires it, we rely on the following legal bases: performance of a contract; your consent (which you may withdraw); our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Services; and compliance with legal obligations. For sensitive data such as voice, we rely on your consent.

6. Sharing & service providers

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with:

  • Service providers (processors) who host our infrastructure, process payments, send email, and provide analytics — bound by contract to protect your data.
  • Payment gateways (Razorpay and Paddle) to process transactions (see Section 7).
  • Legal & safety recipients where required by law, court order, or to protect rights and safety.
  • Business transfers in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, subject to this policy.

7. Payments

Payments are processed by our gateway partners. Customers in India are served by Razorpay; global customers are served by Paddle, which acts as Merchant of Record for those transactions. We do not store full payment card numbers on our servers. These providers process your payment information under their own privacy policies, and Paddle may handle applicable sales taxes as Merchant of Record.

8. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies for essential functionality, preferences and analytics. You can control cookies via your browser and our preferences. See our Cookie Policy for details.

9. Data retention

We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described, to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce agreements. Account data is retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward. Raw voice audio, where temporarily processed, is deleted promptly. You may request deletion as described below.

10. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to: access, correct, update or delete your personal data; object to or restrict certain processing; withdraw consent; request portability; and lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise these rights, email betty@micyaai.com. We will respond within the timeframes required by law.

11. Security

We use technical and organizational measures including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and least-privilege practices. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to notify you and authorities of breaches where required.

12. Children

The Services are not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction) without verifiable parental or institutional consent. If you believe a child has provided us personal data without appropriate consent, contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

13. International data transfers

We may process and store data in countries other than your own. Where we transfer data internationally, we use appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) as required by applicable law.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you. Continued use of the Services after changes constitutes acceptance.
